I glance at my schedule for the day, a steaming cup of Maxwell House in hand.
The corporate life has lost a lot of its glamour since I started to work full-time from my tiny living room, but at least now I can enjoy my morning coffee without worrying about being late.
There are things that I miss from the office. Small things that I took for granted, like a water cooler that never runs out of water, or a printer that doesn't stop printing black and white documents when the magenta ink cartridge runs low. I miss physical space; hallways I can roam when I need to think, empty conference rooms I can squat for an impromptu whiteboard session, staircases I can climb furiously when I need to blow off some steam.
I don't know if those things will ever come back. Words like "corporate" and "enterprise" seem to belong in a distant past, like oil lamps and harpsichords.
If my employer is a dinosaur, what does that make me?
